Pro tip Tuesday - How to make your I pad Pro into a drawing tablet for the I mac.

Welcome to another Pro Tip Tuesday!

Today I'm sharing how to use your iPad as a drawing tablet with your iMac or MacBook Pro.

This is the place I like to share my "aha!" moments.

I might be late to the party here, but if you've been wondering how to use your iPad to draw in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, here's my quick tip.

You know the limitations with Procreate, and sometimes you need to jump into Photoshop to finish a piece or create a pattern.

It's great to be able to use your iPad to add final touches.

And in Illustrator, it feels so natural to draw on your iPad.

You can use screen mirroring technique.

Here are my steps.

Keep in mind you need to have a MacBook Pro from 2016 or later and an iPad Air (3rd generation or newer), but all iPad Pro models work.

Here are my steps for creating a texture library for your illustration projects—swipe to see more.

  • Connect your iPad using your charging cable (see image). This provides the most stable connection—while Wi-Fi works too, it's a bit unreliable.

  • Access the settings on your Mac, open the Control Center, choose Screen Mirror, and then adjust the display settings.

  • Review that settings are checked to Mirror Built-in Retina Display on your Mac and iPad.

  • Open up Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop (I'm using Adobe Illustrator). Select your preferred brush, grab your Apple Pencil, and start sketching.

  • Unplug the cable to stop screen mirroring between your I pad and Mac.

You can still use your magic keyboard and mouse for certain controls in the Adobe programme.

I hope you like this tip today.
