Jehane’s Golden Thread - Catching Up

Happy Friday...
It’s been some time since I sat down and had some creative time. I am jumping back into it with @jehane_ltd Golden thread drawing challenge. I missed a few of the topics the past few weeks but I will try and catch up.
For this weeks challenge I created a book cover for “Hamnet” by Maggie O'Farrell
The book is factious story about William Shakes spears only son.
It tells the story of Shakespeare's family life weaving in the story of love and loss, of hard work, and of a life-time's passion. The sadness caused by the death of his only son, Hamnet.
This was a tricky one as I haven’t read this book. It made me go and research more about the story.
I was inspired by Shakespeare's wife Anne who was known for her love apothecary and growing medicinal herbs, I decided to depict the whole Shakespeare family and a mystery woman who was one of Shakespeare’s first loves also called Anne, I made some portraits and placed them on apothecary jars and displayed in an apothecary shop window.
I guess my lesson from this challenge was digging into history and researching characters.
I really enjoyed doing that something I need to bring more into my illustration practise.
So here is my illustrations, book over and few of my portrait sketches. Enjoy
Have a lovely weekend.
