Tuesday Tips Pattern Planning

Pattern Planning Susse Collection.jpg

Hello here I am with another Tuesday tip for you about how I manage my work flow.

Today is pattern planning and planning collections.  A few sheets to save you hours of working out a new pattern collection. Firstly I like to start with a name for a collection.

Make a mini mood board of colours and images. Work on motif ideas and paint sheets of images and make a library for my pattern collection idea.

This can save you time if you just roughly sketch out your thoughts and pattern layouts before you embark on the final digital files. You have a clear plan before you start.

Here is sheet you can uses here

Drag and drop the sheet above and print out.

Think of different layout combinations for your patterns. A hero pattern with all your motifs, simplified colour ways , spot repeat, half drop etc.

I use this sheet to cross off as each design is completed.

Drag and drop the sheet above and print out.

Once the collection is completed I can make digital swatches and keep tabs on the name and number of the pattern and make a note when I sell them.
